Speaking

After several enquiries lately for me to do more public speaking engagements on family travel, I have put together the list of 10 topics that I am able to do comprehensive talks on in 2010.

I am available to speak to Parenting Groups, Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Chambers of Commerce, Business Groups, PROBUS, high schools or any group that has a interest in a particular destination, tour or attraction, especially if it is related to family travel.

I also give presentations on social media strategy and in particular how I was able to build my own businesses from scratch to very successful and profitable businesses using only social media marketing.

My presentations generally last between 45 mins and 2 hours, however I have done half-days as well.

A lot of the groups who have asked me to speak this year have wanted varied topics so I have tried to include a bit of everything in the list below, however, if you have a really specific topic you would like me to speak to your group about, please let me know.

Speaking gigs can be arranged by emailing speaking@nickbowditchtravel.com.

SPEAKING TOPICS FOR 2010

My speaking presentations are split into two different categories: travel focussed and small business/social media marketing focussed.

.

TRAVEL:

- The top 10 tips for staying sane on family holidays

- The top 10 myths about travelling with your family

- Travelling with newborns and toddlers

- Alternative family adventures – a very different holiday for your family

- Cross-cultural considerations: Pregnancy and Breastfeeding in different countries

- Family Friendly Hotels by destination (eg. Asia, Europe, Bali, Fiji, Thailand etc)

- Living the dream – how I lived overseas for 8 years with no savings and without starving to death!

.

SMALL BUSINESS/SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING:

- “How to increase your small or micro business without spending a cent”

I talk about a wide range of innovations and and platforms that can promote your business and increase your sales and productivity without spending a cent extra. Social networking, social media marketing and Web 2.0 covered in this 60 minute presentation.

- “How I grew my small business database from 4 contacts to 3000 in 6 months using only social media”

When I started my own business, I had 4 customers and about $260 in the bank. I went back to basics to grow my business because basically I had to! In the first 6 months, I had built my customer database from 4 to 3,000 using nothing but social media, old fashioned customer service and bloody hard work. I will show you how you can to in this 60 minute presentation.

- “How to make your Independent Travel Agency stand out from the big boys”

I have worked with other independent travel agencies in the last 12 months to help them stand out from the multinational travel chains that have popped up in their neighbourhood and in a couple of cases literally nextdoor! Is your independent travel agency ready to compete with the big boys? I can help you achieve that starting with this 45 minute presentation.

- “How to develop a Social Media Strategy for YOUR small business”

With all of the innovations in social media, social networking, online marketing and Web 2.0 it’s easy to just throw your hands in the air and give up. Which platform(s) are best suited to your business, your target market and most importantly, to you. And how are you going to find the time to tie it all together?

Having a sound Social Media Strategy is important for every size business, whether you have 20,000 employees or like me only have 1. I will show you how to develop a strategy for your social media marketing in this 60 minute presentation.

- “How to use Social Media to improve your customer service”

Customer service used to entail the relatively easy-to-achieve concept of get them in, get them out, make sure they’re happy and, most probably, never see them again. But as we rapidly approach 2010, customer service – and the customer – is changing dramatically.

With the introduction of social media platforms like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter as well as other Web 2.0 technologies like Really Simple Syndication (RSS), wikis, and content sharing sites like Flickr and YouTube, there are now myriad ways for you to interact with your customers online – more importantly, these also allow your customers to interact with each other.

If you and your business are not embracing this technology, you should know that you’re customers almost certainly are – with 1 out of 2 Australians and 2 out of 3 internet users globally using social networking on a regular basis, that’s a huge audience – do they know about you and your business yet?

This presentation can be tailored specifically for your market and each audience and can range from a 60 minute presentation up to a half-day workshop.

- “Brand YOU! Make yourself the face of your business”

People often ask me if it was a massive risk to use my own name in all of my businesses and their marketing. I tell them I think it would have been a risk not to. My businesses have succeeded because I used my name.

When using your own name and identity as the brand of your business there are a few important things to consider – not the least of which is that all of the bucks have to stop with you!

If you are considering branding your business with yourself, or even if you run a business where your own identity is paramount in its marketing, this 60 minute presentation will help you.

REQUIREMENTS

Travel expenses should be worked out on a case by case basis. All travel will be booked by me at a nett rate and I will show you accurate and professional invoices for same.

A deposit is required to confirm the speaking booking. This deposit is non-refundable. Other details of the quote will be assessed on a case by case basis. Payment of the balance is usually due 7 days before the presentation.

I am pretty easy to work with (I think) and will fit in and adapt to most presentation environments, however, there are a few things that I need and if you want me to speak at your function these things have to be set up:

- Reliable audio visual equipment including a lapel microphone or other mobile microphone if speaking to 25 people or more
- reliable data projector
- good size screen
- remote slide changer (optional).

IMPORTANT

All of my presentations, regardless of the size of the audience, are fun and interactive and require some input from the audience. It’s important to know this before hiring me to speak. If you’re audience are the sort who will just sit quietly and not want to interact and share things with the others in the audience, then I am probably not your man.
