Here we go.. well ..just about, anyways. It’s Saturday night and I’m sitting here at home while Lyndsay is at work. Brayden is at his Dad’s, Laycie is watching “The Flintstones” in a bedroom and Caleb is asleep. Believe it or not.. it’s actually quite peaceful and relaxing.. At least until the next ad series and the subsequent “Dad, can I have a drink?”, “Dad, the guy on the tv went Yabba Dabba Doooooo!!!!”, “Dad, there was a dinosaur….” I’m sure you get the drift.
Its 5 more days till the wedding and 7 days till Thailand. We are starting to get pretty anxious with the wedding plans and everything coming together, but very much looking forward to celebrating with our family and friends. Things haven’t been without their small “glitches”, but I suppose that’s what happens in life and you just make the most of the cards you get dealt.
We decided to move our wedding ceremony last week, less than two weeks out from the day. We are having an outdoor ceremony at the Terrigal Haven, originally planned for up on the top of the headland at Broken Head. Due to being at the mercy of the wind up there even on a relatively calm day we moved our ceremony down on to the sand in The Haven.. like I said, make the most of the cards dealt. I suppose our biggest fear is going to be rain on the day. Lyndsay has been watching weather forecasts online for the past week… and stressing… the way I look at it is, if they couldn’t predict that dust storm the other week (as late as the day before), then I take the long range weather forecasts with a grain of salt. But… if worst comes to worst.. and it does rain on our wedding day… it’s just rain! We still get married, we will still be together, we will still have a ball, and it will be a day we will never forget.
So as for the honeymoon…OMG… bring it on!!! I’m down to 3 days of work to go (as of today). It still doesn’t feel like I’m nearly finished work for the next 4 weeks, I suppose I’m just so used to the 7 day a week grind after 18 or so months… but that doesn’t mean I’m not utterly desperate to finish work and jet off to Thailand for a break. I’m still being the “anal over planner” or as I was called by a workmate Tiarne “an OCD freak”. I’m still scouring websites for things to do and see. I sort of realised that I really had concentrated on Phuket, and had not really researched how to spend our time in Bangkok. Lyndsay and I are spending our first two nights away in Bangkok staying at the Siam@Siam Hotel. We have already planned one rather large tour on our second day there actually getting out of Bangkok. We are off to the Tiger Temple to see the tigers close up, and the Floating market of Damnoen Saduak to see something very “Thai”. The rest of our time will be spent in Bangkok doing some touristy things, such as temples etc, and hopefully getting some shopping out of the way so we can relax and enjoy Phuket when we get there. I’ve read some reviews on a travel website that have given top marks to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho – The Temple of the Reclining Buddah. Are there any readers out there who have been to these places and can give me some tips or suggestions?
Well, this entry is both short and sweet, as I have things to do that are wedding related and I have a deadline for. Keep following our blog, as it does not end here. I will be updating with our exploits when we return from Thailand so we can share with you everything we got up to…. Ok… maybe not everything.. this is our honeymoon.. and this is a “family” travel website with a “G” rating…lol. Take care all. Talk to you soon. Cheers

Michael and Lynds,
This week’s event will be very worth it and rewarding for you both to just sit back and enjoy the day. Cant wait to see you both.
Friends of a friends of ours ( u following?) Went to the tiger temple and to the floating markets. They said top effort all round and there are plenty of things to see and do while there. There TOP TIP for you, if you get a taxi anywhere, BARTER your price. Ask them how much for a ride to where ever and then say, no, im off to another taxi, she said they chase you down to give you a better deal, Because you are tourists they try and up the price cause most people just pay it and think its a rip off, which it is.
Stay safe – Get Lynds AWAY from the online weather reports, and will see you both thursday XX
LOVE TO ALL XXX
Hi Lyndsay & Michael,
I was in Bangkok July this year, didn’t go to the Grand Palace but those who did said it was magnificent. What I did do however was shopped till I dropped, there are shopping Malls there like nothing in Australia, some shops were cheap others not so much….shoparound if you know what you are looking for. The Zen centre was the largest shopping mall, but by our standards all the malls are LARGE. Markets spring up all over the place they have lunch markets, night markets and markets on every other corner. An easy way to get around Bangkok is the Skytrain or the Railway, directions on how to get around are in English, the Thai people are very helpful and friendly, be prepared to see beggars in the streets a lot of them have very young children with them to invoke a bit more sympathy. Bangkok is a vibrant bustling city, I loved it, would like to go back and do the touristy things.
Have fun, and have a great day Friday, whatever the weather!
Love Judy
This is by far my favourite line “But… if worst comes to worst.. and it does rain on our wedding day… it’s just rain! We still get married, we will still be together, we will still have a ball, and it will be a day we will never forget.”
