G’day everyone and welcome back.
So I’m up to blog entry #5 and we’re down to 63 days to go. Time is certainly starting to tick along, both to the wedding and to the honeymoon.
So I hope that everyone got a giggle at my expense in the last entry cause now its time to poke some fun at other people.
The one biggest purchase I have yet to make in preparation for our trip, could probably be the one that saves me the most amount of pain in the two weeks we are away. I can almost hear your minds ticking over with thoughts of what I am talking about and can almost guarantee that no one will ever guess. The one most important purchase I still need to make can be purchased from most good sporting stores. It’s a piece sporting equipment used in the sport of archery. Still I can hear minds ticking over with the big question… “What the bloody hell is he talking about?” For anyone that has ever watched archery or participated in it, I’m sure they will recognise this piece of equipment for the safety that it provides from accidental injury. Anybody guess yet? Ok.. Time to put you all out of your misery.. I have to buy a leather forearm protector, the sort that protects archers from the bowstring hitting their forearm and causing injury. Now the big question you are all asking yourselves is “what the bloody hell for?” Well for those of you asking yourselves that question its obvious to me of one thing.. YOU HAVE NEVER FLOWN ON A PLANE WITH LYNDSAY!!!!! We flew to Mackay 2 years ago for a wedding.. Lyndsay’s first time in an airplane… and I’m still getting the fingernail marks out of my forearm!!!!!!! I need the extra protection!!!!! After all the flying time to Thailand is a lot longer that Mackay.
As I’m sure you can all work out now Lyndsay is not the best flyer to say the least. Takeoffs, landings, even the time between the takeoffs and landings, commonly called the flight, can be a little anxious. Hence the need for the forearm protection, and possibly the sedatives I’m going to have to invest in. After all, I don’t want to arrive in Thailand for our honeymoon with one arm badly damaged. Ok.. so I am exaggerating a little, the marks on my arm disappeared after a few days, but they were there for real. Lyndsay will be the first to tell you that she is a little apprehensive in regards to the flights. Every time we hear a news story relating to a plane incident, especially one like the one in the news most recently in Koh Samui, I can see the look on Lyndsay’s face and think to myself about how she will be when we fly off to paradise. I keep having to tell her that its not the falling out of the sky that kills you when you fly… it’s the sudden stop at the end that does the damage.. lol.
Aside from the apprehension to flying, I know that once we get there it will all be worth it, as I’m sure Lyndsay does too. The things we have planned to do there will keep us busy, entertained, and spoilt for the duration of our honeymoon. There will be time for lazing about beside the pool or on the beach, time for shopping (so I’m told), and time for adult pursuits that can’t be done with 3 kids around. For all of you with dirty minds, I was referring to Scuba diving, snorkelling, ATV riding, jet skiing, eating out etc just to name a few. For all of you with dirty minds.. we will make sure we find time for that adult pursuit as well ..lol
Some other things we have in mind to do involve going to the Tiger Temple and floating markets whilst in Bangkok. I want to try and go to see some Thai kickboxing. I would love to go to a Thai cooking class (that’s something I’ve been working on Lyndsay to do with me for ages.. wish me luck everyone). We want to go to Phi Phi Island for a day trip. And as I mentioned in the last blog regarding renting a car or a bike, I’d love to get out of the tourist areas and see the “real” Thailand however so briefly. Well that is what we have planned to keep us occupied, or another way to look at it is, that is what we are going to do to space out the two flights to aid in my forearm recovery time..lol
Well I hope that this time you all got a giggle again, and this time not at my expense. Please be reminded that I love my wife-to-be very much and that even her physical abuse of my forearm on the flights to and from will not spoil our dream honeymoon together without the kids.
Keep following our blog and feel free to leave us comments. Bye for now.

Hey Michael,
How long are you going for? ‘Cause for what you have got planned to do you are going to need awhile! I envy you going to Bangkok – I would have loved to have gone there. The tiger temple and floating markets, oh I reckon I could spend a week just there! Maybe I will talk John into it one day, but like Lyndsay he is not a fan of flying.
Hi Debbie,
2 nights, 3 days in Bangkok. 10 nights 10 days in Phuket. its going to jam packed i know… but i dont want to miss doing anything… i dont want to come home with the “wish we had of…… ” thoughts seeing as it might be a bloody long time till we get to do anything like this again. thanks for your comment. hope you enjoyed the blog.
Michael, you need to drug her before the take off, get her drunk during the flight and then hopefully she will be asleep by the time the plane lands!
