Family Travel Cairns

Welcome to Cairns! You know you’re in paradise as soon as you step off the place and see the swaying palm trees and feel the balmy tropical breeze, if you were lucky enough to get a window seat you will also have flown over one of the great wonders of the world, Australia’s beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

Cairns is a must-see destination with its coral islands, crystal clear water, lush green rainforests and the magical allure of the Great Barrier Reef. It’s also just a short drive to The Outback and the rolling green hills of the Cairns Highlands with something for everyone.

Love adventure? Then there’s bungee jumping, whitewater rafting, jungle surfing and a host of exciting water sports to choose from. If shopping’s your thing the region offers everything from boutique and duty-free shopping to locally made art and craft at the numerous markets held throughout the region.

For families with young children there are numerous wildlife parks where the kids can hold a koala, feed the kangaroos or pose with a python. Of course the ways to discover the reef are just as varied from scuba diving to snorkelling to not getting wet at all in semi submersibles or glass bottom boats making this incredible experience completely accessible for people of all ages and abilities.

So what are you waiting for? Start planning that trip you’ve been dreaming about today, you’ll be glad you did!

Are you a big fan of Tropical North Queensland as well? What are your favourite spots up there? Let me know in the comments below.
