Pesta Blogger (which means ‘Blogger Party’), is an annual blogging event that is held in Indonesia. The 2008 version is the second Pesta Blogger held, after an extremely successful 2007 event that attracted 500 people.
As part of Pesta Blogger 2008, the Indonesian Ministry for Culture and Tourism has invited 5 international bloggers to experience the culture of Indonesia over 6 days, culminating in the Pesta Blogger Day on Saturday 22 November – which carries the theme of ‘Blogging for Society’. Up to 1000 people are expected to attend the event in Jakarta.
The bloggers are from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, the United States, and Australia. The 5 bloggers will travel to Bali, Yogyakarta and Jakarta and experience many facets of Indonesian culture, including food, traditional crafts, monuments and dances. They will also meet the blogger community in each location and exchange ideas and information.
Our own Anthony Bianco, a guest travel writer for Nick Bowditch Travel, will be attending Pesta Blogger 2008 as the Australian Representative. He will produce a blog about his experiences, and also produce a follow up article for Nick Bowditch Travel.
